Well, it's not much of a story but here it is anyway :p

I became vegetarian two years ago when I was 17, and vegan just a month ago, and it was about time! I've been guilty and disgusted by meat since 3rd grade because I've always cared for animals as life forms in their own right and haven't seen a good reason to use them for human purposes. However, my parents were a definite (read: absolute) obstacle in my pursuit of vegetarianism. They claim that although eating meat is wrong, they don't want to make themselves an "exception" since there are people in the world who have to eat meat or starve. So until I was 17 and very insistent, they refused to accept me wanting to be vegetarian. Perhaps I should have pushed the issue more, but as a person who intensely dislikes conflict, I didn't. ANYWAY, here I am, happy and healthy and trying to be as respectful and organic as humanly possible! My parents have accepted my eating preferences and even buy me food, but so far my attempts to convert them have failed. I will keep trying! Go veggies! :)
