I would just like to add to the wonderful advice you've already gotten, to be aware that people around you are going to be more critical of your every action because you are vegetarian. Vegetarianism itself makes non-vegetarians feel self-conscious and they need to point out your shortcomings to feel better about their own. (I'm not saying your father did that, just that it happens ALOT). It's amazing how many people can point out the supposed hypocrisy in buying a used purse that has some leather (I agree with the other ladies that buying new is a bit different--casting a vote as such) while not eating animals. However, if you were to analyze others' lives, you'd find even higher degrees of hypocrisy in what they say they believe and what they actually do. I think vegetarians as a whole give more thought to what effects their actions might have, to other humans, animals and the environment.

It has to do with ignorance, we all have some. It's once we are enlightened on a subject that we have some responsibility beyond losing the initial ignorance.

I have to commend you too--for only three months vegetarian you are taking on some issues that often arrive later in the journey. Follow your heart, it's the best anyone can do!
