I think you're right to question the use of leather--I stopped buying leather years ago. It's a little bit of a pain to shop for shoes, belts, gloves & purses but it can be done. There are several online shops that are great resources.

I've known some people who have donated their leather goods when they became veg*ns, some who just stopped buying new. Don't beat yourself up--you bought your purse at a second-hand shop and so didn't add to consumer demand for leather. And whether to keep it or not? That depends on how comfortable you are with it.
