First of all, figure out why becoming a vegetarian or vegan appeals to you. I know there are a million and one ways to lose weight, but a veggie diet becomes a life style.
Health issues are another story. A vegetarian/vegan diet is much better for your body and your health then any meat based diet. There are plenty of articles, books, websites, etc that offer food ideas and recipies.
I noticed that I started to feel better over all, had more energy and fewer health related problems after I started to change my diet.
Find a support system, although you have one right here. (I have to say of all of the veggie sites that I've visited, these people are the best!)
To start, look at what you eat in a day. Can you cut any meat out? Can you substitute a veggie burger for lunch? Can you plan dinner without meat? Trust me, there are many tasty meat alternatives out there! When in doubt, cook italian!
Do some reading and flip thru some cookbooks. Talk to other vegetarians. Most of all, stick with it!
