Great story, Millie!

I just wanted to make sure you knew there's tons of vegan chocolate out there. For one, you can get several brands of dairy free chocolate chips (these do not include Hershey's or Nestles - they have milk). And there are several bar chocolates that have no dairy, including Tropical Source, etc. Some of the really fancy chocolates have non dairy products available. Read the labels because not every one of their products is dairy free, but there are dairy free chocolate chips made by Ghiradelli and chocolate nibs made by Shaffenburger, etc.

Just check out what Pangea has to offer using the link below. You may be too late for Valentines Day, but you can even get an amazing box of mixed vegan chocolates and a product that resembles M&M's. I think they sell truffles too, though you can make your own using one of the chocolates I mentioned earlier and something like Silk nondairy creamer or coconut milk to make a ganache.

If you are lucky enough to have a Trader Joe's, be sure to treat yourself to a Terra Nostra dark chocolate truffle bar. They also have a "pound plus" dark chocolate bar with almonds.

The list goes on! I know this was a minor point in your post, but new and seasoned vegans are often surprised by how many substitutes and available products there are out there. I don't want anybody to miss out on something they love - especially chocolate! I would surely crumple up and die without it!
