After a decade of dealing with what appeared to be spontaneous vertigo that was not associated with physical activity such as standing up quickly, I learned the true source of my vertigo was oranges, orange juice, or natural orange related products. After suffering with the issue for 8 years I started to take notes on date, time, and the amount of Dramamine I needed to keep me from feeling sick. Around this time I made an effort to eat more fruit and vegetables and you can guess what I started to take to work regularly for lunch, oranges. I then noticed that my symptoms started to become more frequent. After a couple years of paying more attention to the subject I went on vacation and found myself suffering from a relatively strong dizzy spell and noticed that it was in the morning at a time when I never documented having vertigo before and I realized that I had two large glasses of orange juice which was not apart of my normal activities. I have been free of vertigo for maybe 4 years now. My grandmother has the same issues with oranges and we both started suffering from the same symptoms around the same time. Her first experience was so bad that she thought she was dying and called the ambulance. My speculative guess is the increased level of acidity in our blood may have had a negative effect on the inner ear, so if anyone out there who is suffering from vertigo that appears to defy any known medical condition, trying doing a little experimenting on your diet and start taking notes. You may have some form of food allergy. Mathew Sullivan Boynton Beach, Fl
