Yeah, I realize that I have a lot of weight to loose. Believe it or not 25 years ago I was 120 lbs lighter, a competitive bicycle racer, and was pinching below 5% body fat.

I've had some ups and downs and have backslid a few times but I'm making slow progress toward a healthy weight.

Right now the weight training thing is a big deal because I don't want to loose lean body weight as I loose fat. I read that on the average a completely sedentary person looses 1.4 lbs of lean body weight/year. I want to stop this loss and hopefully gain back a few years worth of muscle. I also figure that the more muscle I have the higher my basal metabolic rate and the easier time I'll have loosing fat. After the days get longer and we have DST I'll be able to go on bike rides after work a few days a week. For me cycling is the best way to get cardio conditioning and loose weight.
