I used to religiously lift weights in the morning. Then nagging injuries keep interrupting them. I blew out a knee, then a shoulder impingment, then tennis elbow, then some carpal tunnel syndrome (probably from too much typing at work). For the last several years every time I get started lifting an injury comes along.
My joints have been good lately so my New Year's resolution was to get back into the habit of lifting weights several mornings a week.
I have one of those Tanita scales that estimates body fat. On New Years it told me I was 292.5 lbs and 44% body fat. Now it says I'm 294 and 40% body fat. I already look and fee different than I did when I started but according to the scales I've gained 13 lbs of lean body mass in less than 2 months. Is that even possible? I know that since I haven't been training for years that my initial progress would be rapid but this seems too good to be true. When I weight myself several evenings in a row I get consistant readings but how accurate are they?
