This sidelines your question a bit, but keep in mind diets heavy in meat protein have a much higher risk of cancer later in life among other diseases. There are many other things at stake besides osteoporosis.
You may want to read some excerpts from his book on meat protein and the damage that can be done to your body--it's all very well researched.

Though his diet is along the lines of a vegan/vegetarin, ultimately he says if you want to add meat to your diet, any more than 12 ounces of any meat a week (one of your brother's steaks) will increase risk of disease.
Think about this before you add the beef!
