Well I saw recently a film about the san people in the kalahari desert. A typical hunter gatherer community. Apart from scavaging which wasn't very profitable and only suitable for keeping being able to hunt, the real big meals, for the entire tribe including women and children, came from running behind antilopes and buffels which they tracked down for almost a day until the animals were too tired to put one foot for the other and surrendered. I was very surprised, flabbergasted actually, to see that the two legged humans were able to do this but actually the two leggedness and the ability to drink while running made the difference.
