We are EQUIPPED to eat anything. It's part of the reason we have survived as a species. But we are not particularly well DESIGNED to eat meat. Our closest genetic relatives (gorilla's - well technically bonobo monkeys) are primarily vegetarian and eat meat only when other food is not available. Our digestive system doesn't resemble that of a herbivore or a carnivore.
