Renowned dietitian Jeff Novick MS RD met John McDougall MD 17 years ago.  Dr. McDougall offered to take the somewhat starstruck Jeff out for dinner one evening.

Jeff recounts the memorable experience spending that evening with his idol.

I had a similar experience to Jeff's, when meeting chef Alice Waters. I live in Berkeley near her restaurant Chez Panisse, and my family and I go there fairly regularly. One time we saw her there and my mom and I worked up the courage to go up and talk to her. She could not have been any nicer. Such a joy to talk to.
