Tobey Maguire, a vegetarian for 14 years and recent vegan convert, helped launch an initiative called the Teaching Garden at Kelso Elementary school in Inglewood, CA on March 22. The program aims to educate children on the importance of ecologically safe food and the accompanying healthy lifestyle.

Maguire, best known for his role as Peter Parker and his superhero alter-ego Spiderman, is not a newbie when it comes to children's health advocacy.

The thirty-four-year-old actor penned a letter to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi in support of healthier school lunch options being added to the Child Nutrition Act.
