Most people can get their numbers down to an excellent level by sticking to a low-fat vegan diet. If you eat at home, instead of in restaurants, you can control what you have in the cupboard and what you take into your body. The average total cholesterol level of a vegan is around 120, mine is in that range. What it takes ia a mindset to make changes, but it can be a fun adventure. You should check out McDougall, Bernard, any of the low-fat vegan proponents, there are plenty of books available, I buy them in thrift stores all the time. Be sure to get lots of fun new cookbooks as well, that's the fun part. It's so worth doing.
