I got involved with setting up an VOIP account (Skype) yesterday, and then babysitting the grandson, and never got that far. But I found it today.
I used to do Fair Isle all the time, and made some beautiful things. Even a gorgeous bathrobe for my daughter when she was a little thing. But I switched over to doing more of the Aran stuff = easier to carry around, as I got into the taxi service phase of motherhood, I guess. I should go back to Fair Isle = it's so pretty, and not that hard.
If you're a person who has a hard time with yarn tension, however, especially if you find it difficult not to knit too tightly, you would have a hard time with Fair Isle. It's really important that the threads of temporarily unused colors that are carried across the back not be pulled too tight, or the knitted "fabric" will be puckered. The seersucker effect... not good. The little bobbins can be a pain in Fair Isle, though.
The tapestry crochet looks neat... I crocheted years ago, actually before I started knitting, but prefer knitting. And I remember seeing tapestry crochet. I never heard of tapestry knitting, that I can recall. Those tapestry crochet bags look kinda nice, don't they? What kind of things do you make with the tapestry knitting?
