Mama Owl, Are you familiar with this group? Joyce Kinmont might be able to provide you with referrals or resouces.

I met Joyce Kinmont when my husband was transferred temporarily to Brigham City, UT, back in the 70's on an aerospace project for Thiokol. She home-schooled all her children, and then assisted through the years in homeschooling her grandchildren, and helped change the laws and "acceptance" in home schooling nationwide--and continues to focus her life on homeschooling issues. As far as I know, they teach and attempt to live veganism. They have a website, a bookstore, a newsletter, resources, texts and teaching materials, and information on homeschooling curriculum, etc.

From a write-up about the family:

"The Kinmonts' were one of the first families to homeschool in the state of Utah. Eight wonderful children and a lovely foster daughter were all homeschooled. 'We delight in the people our children have grown to be, the spouses they've chosen, and the 23 creative, talented grandchildren they have given us so far.' "

Maybe there is some part of what they offer that can be of assistance to you. I'll provide a few links for you to survey and look over some of the material.

Joyce's adult daughter, Millie, recently wrote a Vegan cookbook.

Here is a sampling of the "diet and health books" (used in their teaching, also) on their site, which includes Millie's book.

This is a link to the bookstore at their site:

I like their "George Washington Project" also.

Joyce is the author of "Home School Decisions" Blurb: "Addresses issues such as curriculum, socialization, competition; causes deep introspection about our traditions and preconceived ideas; helpful to beginners."

and the author of "Diet Decisions" Blurb: "Covers the Word of Wisdom, the Daniel diet, enzymes, juicing, hormones, depression, vaccination. You'll understand things you never understood before! "

She supports Constitution Week, and teaches the Constituion as part of a Home School curriculum. and often offers links to resources for others to obtain materials to share with their schools and communities each Sept. when that time rolls around for "govt. mandated" Constitutional Teachings in the public schools . She (and I) support the Constitution as it was intended by our Founding Fathers--and try to teach that we are not a Democracy, but a Republic. An excellent resource is:

Constitutional Materials are obtainable at very low prices, the materials can be shared in public schools if one chooses, and are excellent for Home Study. An Education Version of "A More Perfect Union" is available, and even a free download for a teacher's guide.

Home page to their Home Educators Association Website:

Their 15th annual Home Schooling Conference is scheduled Sept. 16th. Information at:

This is far more than you inquired about. I get excited about home schooling! Please just use anything you like and ignore the rest.

I'm proud of you, and send you my support and encouragement. One of the regrets in my life, is not following through in my Home-Schooling long-term. If I had it to do over again, I WOULD!

OH--I don't have time to look for it just now, but isn't there a Home School Discussion Board sponsored by VegSource? If so, maybe some good help there for the Vegan Curricula?
