Gratitude
Always around the holiday season our hearts are filled with gratitude for
all of the blessings that have been bestowed on us throughout the year. A
definition of gratitude that I find most cherished comes from a wonderful
book called "Science & Health"( with Key to the Scriptures.) The author Mary
Baker Eddy defines gratitude as much more than a verbal expression of
thanks. Action expresses more gratitude than speech. Nothing can express
these thoughts better than bringing our sincerity to life through our good
deeds to others. It often is said that it would be nice to keep the spirit
of Christmas alive all year rather than putting it away with our decorations
after the holidays are over.
2001 will not easily be forgotten. The world has changed since September
11th. I now see a more spiritual world where true blessings aren't material
at all. Nonetheless, they have lasting value that never depreciates but
flourishes through use. As the world slowly recovers, we all can play our
part to unite the world with love. I am grateful for all the lessons that
life has taught me and that is my year end wish for 2001. I hope to see
peace on earth all year long and not just at Christmas.
