Finding Compassion for All Animals: A Thank-You Letter to Jo
Dear Jo,
The first book I read of yours was The Vegan Sourcebook and it was an enlightening adventure. I have been Vegan since 1994 but I never knew that Veganism is a philosophy and not merely a diet. Your book gave me a whole new outlook on being Vegan. I next read Being Vegan and then I went on to read Compassionate Living...
I have since joined The American Vegan Society, and I am already a member of PETA, Farm Sanctuary, and United Poultry Concerns.
While I care deeply about all sentient beings, I support the organizations that help the animals that the general public seems to care the least about: “Farm Animals.” I have been to Farm Sanctuary, and it was a truly spiritual experience for me. To be in contact with animals in a clean and natural environment was amazing. Pigs are amazing! I absolutely love them. I have a bond with pigs.
All animals are individuals and this doesn't just apply to the animals with whom we share our homes. All animals are equal because they all feel as we do when it comes to joy, love, thirst, hunger, comfort, fear, and pain.
Your books have been a true asset in my learning about Veganism. I thank you. Now I am going to learn how to cook Vegan! I do have Vegan Vittles and will soon purchase The Uncheese Cookbook.
Again, thank you for the journey of what it truly means to be a Vegan.
Dennis C.
