KZ, This reply is not meant to offend or insight a debate. I have nothing against public or private schools. However, the primary function of any school is to teach academic skills, not to teach social skills. Unfortunately, as a byproduct of these academic institutions, children are learning their social skills from others who lack them. I wonder, is this suppose to be a good thing? In the "real world" we interact with people of all ages and and background, and, ideally, we participate in that interaction. While schools are moving to more discussion based programs where children are allowed input, I'm not sure they are all up to par quite yet. In addition, why would everyone have to read Shakespeare to begin with? No offense, but I find all of your arguments against homeschooling invalid, but thank you for your thoughts. What worked for you may not be what works for everyone. I'm not saying unschooling is the best way to teach all children, nor do I believe that. However, it works for those who choose this style of education.
