Hi everyone....I haven't been here for probably 4 years at least...and I just want to say "hi" and to tell you about the success my granddaughter has had.

She is 19 1/2 yrs old...she just passed the Admissions Test for ITT Tech Institute in California!!! She got 28 right out of the 33 questions she did in the 12 minutes allotted. (And she thought she didn't learn that much in UNschooling!)

ITT Tech Institute is a college where you can learn everything about computers/drafting/graphic design/architectural stuff.

The only thing holding her back now is .... she doesn't have a diploma from an accredited homeschool in California.. The homeschool being ME and a support group we belonged to. In order to get in, she can go to an adult education school and take an assessment test..that test will show if she would be able to pass the GED test. If it shows she couldn't then she can take some classes in the areas she needs to pass it.

To take the GED test costs anywhere from $90 to $150 in this state..she can do that 4 hrs one day and 4 the next. As long as you get a passing certificate, you're in. IF she doesn't pass, she can take classes for one semester in the things she needs to bone up on, and try again in December.

I just wanted to tell all you homeschooling/unschooling moms out there that you can do it! your children can do it. Don't give up!! The one thing we both wished we would have pursued more strenuously is...math. Of course, math! Ucky ewwww for my g/daughter and me! lol Math and Pre-Algebra (fractions and decimals) are important. However, even so, they know more than think they do!

Hope this isn't too long-winded. We are excited and I wanted to let everyone here know it can be done!

Warm hugs,

Gramms
