to the point, you need to honestly let your child know she has to know how to support herself financially in the future. Future goodies she wants will take resources (money, time, effort). Maybe you could push her into getting a parttime job so she has a little experience with the real world of work. Her attitude about a lot of things will definitely change and will be more realistic and therefor useful for her life once she has real experience. The idea about career resource centers is also great!
