in my book. With our socioeconomical situation, my teen knows she has to be responsible for her future educational/vocational plans. Thus, this "plan" is popular with my dd and she is the one who thought it up, although my input is also valuable. Maybe we should call our family "flexible" but not "radical" unschoolers.

I still think any parent needs to lay it on the line about who will be paying for college, vocational skills, etc. with older students. If you are not able to pay for all such expenses, your kid needs to make valid plans so a dose of honesty is alwaysthe best policy.
