My dd was sort became the same way. I finally sat her down and said, here's a list of college bound reading and you have to read 14 of these books, write a good book report on each, over the next 3 years. You have to read this Consumer Math book and show me you can do the work, especially the ones about small business ownership. You have to research vocational training and community colleges around here and you are responsible for making list, plans, getting knowledge, etc. You have to make it all about results and let them know you won't be financially supporting them later.
