| Subject: | want to Unschooling |

I want to unschool but with portfolio reviews, or tests and me not being good at record keeping I always fall back on workbooks. My son hates workbooks. Well he just hates writing and sitting for more than two seconds. He's a kid that can't sit long enough to eat. He reads spinning in a circle screaming what he reads. You would think spinning would effect his reading ability but he reads a magic tree house book a day.
He's only five but I registered him for home school last aug., they put him in first grade. He's always doing educational things, computer games, educational games, educational video's or reading but most of it is unable to normally be documented. It's really hard to even document the books he reads because he's all over the place.
I really feel that if I just let him "run with it" he'd enjoy it a lot more and I'd be a lot less stressed. I think one of my main issues is that this is my first year. I have no idea how much is needed for his portfolio.
He is taking the CAT in July though his ability to sit long enough to take one section is highly doubted.I got the test from Seton, so I'm not sure if Ohio let's me fall under their "Other designated by publisher" section on the testing assessment or if I would still need to find a certified teacher. If I would fall under that, Seton lets parents give the test, I would just test him every year, even though I know he's higher then the 25 percentile I'm not sure he'll test higher because he can't sit. I was just going to include the CAT in the portfolio if I don't fall under their "Other designated by publisher" section.
Any suggestions?
