I recently brought my 16 yr.old son home to unschool. He is having difficulty with the loose learning style. He insists on using textbooks, class syllabuses and a strict schedule. He's been in school for 5 yrs. and he thinks we have to follow a school agenda to be valid. I'm a homeschool veteran, so I thought we could just jump back into education as part of our lifestyle. I bought a bunch of great books and things to explore and I give him freedom to practice his music as much as he wants. I also bought all the textbooks for all the subjects "required" for Gr.11. He refuses to read or look at anything that is not a textbook! How do I get him to relax and de-program from his idea of school? Any suggestions?
