I am also new to homeschooling and I have a kinder age boy. I chose Five in a Row curriculum and LOVE IT SO MUCH!! Check it out at www.fiveinarow.com It sounds like you are on the right track and the cat unit sounds fun. =) I can't imagining sending my children to public school. I would miss too much of their lives and they would be bored, etc. Enjoy this special time! Some of the advice I've gotten is to ease into and not rush or push too hard. My son is ASKING to do more like your children. But when he was in preschool he was developing an attitude about learning. We pulled him out, quit trying to teach him anything and now he is asking how to spell words, tell time, and add numbers. A lot of learning happens naturally. =)
