The state studies are still there but they aren't as intense. Looking at unit 2 of WO I see 3 days of Mountain Men history, 2 days of KY study, and the rest of the history in the 12 day unit is devoted to the study of the UK. It shows the relation of how the good folks of the diff parts of the UK came to be in America.

Unit 3 we begin with lesson 34 about Vermont, 35 about Algonquin Indians and Vermont, 36 sees France come into the picture of our American hx and for a while we see how Frace, Britian, amd Native Ams all play a part in our history.

Dorian does tell you to add to your NA notebook, but that is very easily skipped if you want to.

We have only used part of this so I don't have a lot of experience with it, but I can look up anything you want to know.

Some thoughts on other choices. In my humble opinion LA may be the best thing to use with that broad of an age span. With the youngest you could add phonics and some math and go along for the ride with WO. For the highschool student you could require additional research in history and science if you feel it is neccessary and lenghten the writing assignments. For your 3rd and 7th use as is. Basically tweek to fit.

You could also have your highschooler do NOtgrass and Apologia alone as they are designed for independent study.

My Father's World has unit studies you could use with your 2 middle children together and a K program that doesn't take much time. You could actually do 2 seperate studies and not be overwhelmed. At least that is what I have heard from other parents. I have the K program but have not used it yet.
