You can use Konos with a grade K student. You don't have to have the updated book list. The books they have on their list are pretty old, but what you do is this: Say for example, you are doing a unit on the Solar system. You go to the library and pick out the age appropriate good books on Solar system. Then you choose from the choice of activities you want to do along with it to spice it up.
The book is set up in units according to each character trait. For example the "Attentiveness" unit covers sound/music, birds, tracking and trapping, Frontiersmen/Indians, Eyes/ears/other senses and Predator/Prey. Volume one covers 7 character traits. Hope this helps!!
