I have a daughter with Down syndrome and we found a wonderful program called Phono-Graphix. You can learn more about it at www.readamerica.net We were told our daughter would not learn to decode words, but would learn by sight, meaning memorizing the words as she saw them. I thought that would place a limit on her and that she was capable of "learning" to read and decode words. Well, with this program (a God-send) she has learned to read. She is 12 and can read anything you put in front of her. Best of all, she LOVES to read. I like the program so much, I took the online courses and became certified as a reading therapist using Phono-Graphix. I urge you to go to the web site and see for yourself how much sense it makes! By the way, I do not work for them nor do I get anything for recommending them. I don't even know them personally.
