My son always says he is bored, but he doesn't want to do anything...he wants to always do something exciting...he loves to play his electric guitar and is very good at it...his left hand is dominant but he does use his right hand for some things...he tends to stay on the same subjects in conversation day after day...until he gets stuck on a new subject...he is very intelligent but does struggle with focus on math...he has no problem with focus on reading...his posture isn't very good and I know that is mentioned in Asperger's also...
I wish he would go out and ride bike and do outdoor things and I will go with him but he usually won't...he says it is boring to ride bike...he will do things with his friends but he mostly likes computer and guitar and XBox 360...I want him to have a full life and do more things outdoors and things...he doesn't want to do most everything we mention...does anybody have a boy like this? He is not depressed or anything like that...he has fun and good friends...he does not show affection to me or family...he doesn't hug...his friends are great and call me mom and give me hugs...but my son does not show affection...we have a very close and loving family...but my son has always been somewhat difficult...I guess my main frustration is what can I do to help him have a full life and enjoy doing more things? And to help him from getting stuck in the same conversations and routines day after day? And there is no willingness on his part.
He loves to swim and jump off the rope and cliff at the lake in the summer. The cliff jumping is the most exciting thing to him. But he always wants to do something exciting. He says every day he wants something exciting to do. I ask him what would be exciting and he doesn't know.
My son is great and awesome and I love him. What can I do to help him and help my frustration with these issues? Thank you for your help or suggestions if you can relate.
