Hi there-- I so understand this! My 10 year old son is dysgraphic, and somewhat dyslexic as well, but is finally, reading at grade level (after 5 years of very hard work on his part and mine). I found Dianne Craft's materials VERY helpful. My son is taking a few fatty acid supplements that she recommends, and he's a good sport about it most of the time. We've done the stretching exercises and the written "lazy eight" exercise for a few months, and honestly, within 6 weeks the reversals in his written letters were GONE. He was previously reversing an average of 1 in 9 letters. Spelling is still hard, and he isn't writing sentences very well yet, but we are thrilled with the progress made so far. Dianne Craft has a website, and her Brain Integration Therapy Manual is in many public libraries. I'm a mom of 5, so I've made plenty of mistakes, but I think I'd just split the time between them for the subjects that need a lot of help, and try to do some subjects as read alouds together. My struggling learner is the youngest, so he doesn't have younger siblings surpassing him, but the older kids have been ignored when I've spent lots of time with him. I'm SO thankful that I've kept him at home. He's developed good listening and memory skills, I think because reading has been so hard, and we encourage him in the areas in which he excels--currently playing hockey and the game Blokus--and I finally realized that having academic superstars isn't the only sign of successful homeschooling. I hope I've said something helpful. Best wishes to you lisa
