No specific recommendations but I'd suggest looking at anything with the terms "adult literacy". Also - I know that for students, there is a kind of code term, "high interest", which indicates that the materials are interesting but they are written at a lower reading level. This could be a term to keep in mind when looking for materials for your dad. But I'll bet there's lots of stuff out there for adults who want to improve their reading. HTH
