We adopted three sisters 16 years ago. We later learned they have Fetal Alcohol Syndrum and also may have some drug effects, and also suffered neglect with emotional problems. Through homeschooling and Natural support with diet and herbal suplements, we were able to really help the girls. The oldest turned 20 today and the middle girl turns 19 next month. For the last year I have been trying to find a way for them to become idependant. They need some help with understanding the world and coping with everything. I very strongly feel they need someone to check on them, but not full time care. I have been working on this for the last year and just gone in a big circle. We finally qualified them for Vocational Rehab. They will get help to be able to work, and have a work counselor.
But she is new and and is having trouble finding reasons or documenting what is needed to help them move out with help.
I am beside myself with fear they will fall through the cracks. They are going to go down hill when they move out because I can keep them functioning better through alot of structure and very strict diet. My husband and I are in our 50's and we have the youngest of the three, she is 16, and needs more help, and a 9 year old grandson we are raising who is gifted. Does anyone else worked to transition broaderline children with problems before.....I need HELP!! Thanks for listening.
