Hi, Rebecca: I am pasting you what little info I have about Dr.
Daphne Thomas - she has a daughter with Rett's Syndrome -- I
was the second grade teacher for Dr. Thomas' other daughter. She
and her husband do alot of fund raising, etc for Rett's. PS - I know
that if you do a Google search, Daphne's info will come up - she is
an M.,D. in northern virginia. Maybe she is someone with whom
you can speak. hope this helps -- Mariann
Dr. Daphne Thomas
...
"Opponents of (embryonic) stem cell research view it as destruction
of potential human life and are misinformed," said Dr. Daphne
Thomas, a Virginia physician whose 7-year-old daughter Alyssa
has Rett syndrome, a rare and fatal genetic disease.
"Please do not let poorly founded doubts ... hold back
opportunities to explore this area of research," Thomas told a news
conference as her severely mentally and physically disabled
daughter suffered several small seizures beside her.
