My kids - especially my son - take their work slow. The way he's going at math, it's going to take 5 years to finish Freshman math! But honestly, as long as they are putting in 180 days of work for the school year, it doesn't matter how slow they are. Of course, to get the high school credits, they are going to have to finish some stuff, and if it takes 5 or 6 years to finish high school, it's the teen that made that decision and who can live with the consequences. I think once my son sees how his grades are tied to getting jobs and making money and getting the rewards from me that he wants (like that drivers license), he's going to step up the pace.
