I believe Saxon Math has placement tests. You could check their website to see... We've used Saxon from day one, tried Miquon for a couple of months and switched back. Been happy with it for 7 years now. I'd suggest working on your own to determine your son's levels (they can vary from subject to subject) rather than relying on the school's placement or a one-time test. Sometimes the school or test is right-on, sometimes other factors (poor test-taking skills, distractions, teacher bias, etc.) can cause his "official" placement to be way off. This can actually be off either way as schools these days do not want to fail kids. You'll find that spending time working with him will let you determine his abilities fairly quickly.
