What kind of job are you looking into? Some are more flexible than others. Also, as was already posted, the age of kids is a factor also.
I work as a paramedic which means long hours on the days I work but more days off than your typical 9-5. I have 3 kids who have always been homeschooled and for the most part are independent and self-motivated. Not that we don't have issues but they certainly understand that the alternative to being creative with school is going to ps which they do not want to do.
On days I work, we do the minimum necessary to call it a school day (basically the 3 R's) and I take the answer keys to work to check their work as they go. Again, my job makes it easier because I usually have some down time throughout the shift. Days off are usually crammed full with school work but I try to do fun stuff too so we enjoy our time together. I work 7 out of 14 days. We do try very, very hard to take weekends off but sometimes we are playing catch up.
We also enjoy traveling and use that to supplement school work. Geography, history and natural science are well suited to learning while traveling.
Homeschooling while working full-time is certainly difficult but is also doable. It just takes patience, flexibility and creativity. Good luck!
