Hello, I am a new widow and on top of that I am a new homeschooler. I had plans to homeschool my sons, though not totally supported by my husband, before his motorcycle accident that killed him on August 1st. Most people assumed that I would put my oldest son in public school now, but that didn't cross my mind then. It has a couple of times since, but not very seriously and now I know that I won't if I am still alive and kicking because I know that God has called me to it. It is why I am still here and they are my life. God has given me these three boys to raise in Him, and I will with His help. I would like to meet, talk to other single parent homeschoolers. I recently went to a homeschool convention and felt a little like an outsider with all the happy, close couples, many with newborn babies. While I didn't feel judged, because nobody really knew me, I felt like I might be...after all if I am single, I must also be divorced right? Divorce isn't very supported in the conservative, christian homeschool circles, and thus I would be already kicked down a peg. However, I am not divorced, I am a widow, I am the single mom of three little boys, and I have the job of being their mother and their father, not to mention their guide, their bible instructor, their teacher, their nurse, etc. I am doing, joyfully, the job God has called me to do and I hope that other sites like this will keep giving support to those of us who are single parent homeschoolers...either it was our choice or not.
