I think I'd agree with you on those points - I love stocking surprises,making them for the children and seeing how much fund they have with it, and I'm always amazed at how they don't seem to think I would enjoy the same thing!

A nice home, nicely furnished would be a dream gift too!

I have done ZERO shopping as of today, and mostly because I had ZERO funds! I discovered yesterday that I've received an unexpected credit on a bill this month. The money I paid last month was credited in part toward this month - last months bill was re-computed, so to speak, so I will have some money for gifts after all.
We got a dog from the pound - a four year old beagle mix who had a litter that was weaned Nov 28th. She was spayed Dec 4, and now she is home in our all-girl abode. The girls are delighted. We had two large dogs that passed away when my youngest was a toddler. It was very hard for me to care for them all at the time, and I have had to wait until the girls were old enough to contribute to the critter's care. She's a great size, not too small and not too big. She was a fantastic early Christmas present, and would have been more than enough if that's all I could have come up with. The girls' dad, who grew up on a farm, is very pleased, as he has wished for them to have pets, but cannot realistically have a dog himself as he rises around 4 am and leaves for work shortly thereafter. So it looks like this year, I've made EVERYONE happy - imagine that!!!
