Feel free to take it slow, for one. Bringing your son home is going to be a BIG change. You want his attitude to be positive as you become his guidance counselor. Hopefully you won't have to do much actual teaching at this stage, just oversee his work to make sure he is completing it, grade quizzes and tests, and keep records.

Many places that offer curricula also offer placement tests. Those will tell you what grade level he is at personally for each subject. You might want to give a few of those a try.

Check out some books and magazines on homeschooling. They will give you tips and ideas for different learning styles and the educational materials that are out there.
