Yeah...only an hour per week. At Camp Hale (in Oklahoma...summer camp) I saw a Scouter with a t-shirt saying "Remember, it's only an hour per week".
As for when my son gets older, I'll continue with Scouting until I'm too old to sit in front of a campfire and rub my belly while eating food prepared by 12 year old boys. I'm still the Webelos leader after my son crossed over a couple of years ago. I love Scouting.
At camp, he earned his rifle, archery, horsemanship and wilderness first aid merit badges this year...his goal is Eagle and he's going for it aggressively. He satisfied his first class requirements quite a while back, but due to current Scoutmaster work schedules, a Court of Honor has been unavailable until next month. Because to that, the district waived his 1st class requirement for the merit badges.
You, your daughter and family have been added to our prayer list that you all will meet your goals and get the maximum benefits.
