I totally agree with your comment on Venturing. I haven't been this excited about a program since I first discovered Cubbies when my boy was 8.

We're blessed to have a fantastic crew. They are affilliated with a pack and a troop as well, and are very family oriented in their outings and activities. Our Crew Chief is very good at finding service projects for us to do when we go camping. We usually do our service project on Saturday mornings and have the rest of our camping time free for our own activities, and in exchange get to camp for free.

As part of my woodbadge ticket, I'm presenting Venturing to my son's troop next month. They seem very receptive, and hopefully by the time my son turns 14 in May it will be established in conjunction with his current troop.

Good luck on the Scoutmaster position. Just keep remembering that it's only an hour a week, and that your son will soon be grown and you can pass it on to someone else...
