Hi Connie, I've been single for 7 years, though the divorce was just finalized 2 months ago. What I've experienced through the years is that homeschooling parents who have been through divorce and single parenthood before remarrying are much more empathetic and eager to lend a hand than others. Those who grew up in single parent homes also show more understanding. Others, well I'm afraid they either think we "desperate women" are going to steal their husbands, or we're contagious and they might "catch" divorce from us if they don't distance themselves. I've wondered whether I make some people uncomfortable by being a single parent homeschooler, but I haven't been treated rudely. Another local homeschooling mom wasn't so lucky, and the homeschooling women who treated her unkindly were Christians, I'm disappointed to say. She quit our support group because of that, and I decided not to renew my membership. Okay, what was the question? LOL Um, supporting singles? Yeah, that's a tough one. I know I don't have time to organize something like that, but it would be nice if someone would. It's difficult to get anyone to volunteer to head up anything in homeschooling circles. Everyone can claim to be busy! (They just shouldn't say it to a single parent working homeschooling mom of ADHD teens who is also leading a 4H club because no one else would do it.)
