My kids didn't care if they got "F"s because all they care about is fun, plus my dd has learning problems anyway. However, when I made a new rule that there would be no playing outside, no GameBoy and no computer games when an "F" was on the books, my son got with the program and started getting mainly C's and B's! He still occasionally gets an F, but he works hard to pull it up to a C so he can continue to have fun. (My dd just works harder on chores. That's where her strength lies.)
