working at night is doable, but you still cannot leave your girls alone in the house - so you'd still have to have someone care for them. It's a little rough, because you never really get to sleep, but you get used to that.
what kind of work would you be doing? A lot of health care positions (nursing, CNAs, etc) can work a Baylor shift - working 30 hours in a weekend, off the whole week. Often, you can find a relative or someone for the kids to stay with for the weekends.
There are some work at home things that actually do pay reasonably. They are not necessarily easy to get - I started looking into medical transcription, which a friend of mine has done for years, only to find that now, much of it is farmed out overseas where labor is cheaper. Also, I realized that freelance and piecework deals still leave me and the kids with no health insurance. So I had to have a job with benefits.
good luck!!
