There are a few curricula which are available for
Middle School science. Real Science 4 kids is a good
starter. It isn't very in depth but it does scratch
the surface pretty well in a structured way. I do
like Ellen Mchenry's unit studies which you can use
as supplement or as introductions. Before Chemistry,
we used her unit called The Elements and Carbon
Chemistry. If you are studying a life science, you
can try her Botany. We have used all of them and
they are all great and hold the kids interest. There
is also Exploration Education for Physical Science.
It is well organized and the kids can pretty much
work on it independently. ACS also has a free online
Chemistry called Middle School Chemistry. It is free
and you just have to provide the items for the
experiments. Other unit studies to consider are Tops
Science. They have some great experiments. You can
look at some free ones they have on their website as
samples.

There is also Mr. Q science at eequalsmcq.com. His
curriculum is great and teaches in a way where you
can use the scientific method and truly understand
the steps. We used it one year and my kids enjoyed
it. There are several others but I only mentioned
the ones we enjoyed. We did try Classiquest but the
methods were just not well received with my kids. We
do have a separate writing curriculum and vocabulary
studies so the writing was just too much for us.
