6th grade, earth science; 7thh grade, life science; 8th, physical science and 9th grade is usually biology.
Then go to the library and get the Eyewitness books and have your child create a lap/notebook of notes, photos and art, literary, music related to the topic. That's a really good way and is not bogged down with stuff they don't care about. Experiments can be found in Van Cleaves even for older kids, and easyfunschool has units for all. Good luck on your home school journey.
