My husband and I also sent our oldest to public school for a year and were horrified at what she came home with. Most people don't think about what schools teach outside academics, so kudos to you for having caught it early!! We're using All About Reading, Math-U-See and Handwriting Without Tears. I'm contemplating adding Real Science 4 Kids, but we have a wonderful science center in town that does bimonthly homeschool classes. Add in a weekly trip to the library for storytime and lots of cuddle stories (where they all crowd around and I read to them) and we think we've found a good balance. For the extras, we have ballet and piano. We also have a French program, since I think it's important to teach languages early. Good luck to you and God bless!
