For his 12th grade ancients, I would highly recommend My Father's World. It's the only program I know of which reads the entire Old Testament during that year. They also use Notgrass, Smarr, & other things. The syllabus is written to the student with specific bite-sized assignments to check off. Their American history years are in the pilot form right now. You'd have to ask if they're taking newbies.
