You may want to go to a homeschool conference.
We have one in the summer. Or a local used curriculum sale. You can talk to other moms that way and see the curriculum first hand. I have gone every summer for the past 8 years. Each curriculum has its benefits and drawbacks. ACE is good for people who do not have a lot of time to devote to teaching their kids and they can catch up in certain subjects quicker. I am not too familiar with Alpha Omega or CLP. I did use AO switched on schoolhouse for a while, but the kids got bored of its repitition on the computer set up after awhile.
